What Sidekick uses
Sidekick stores conversations, facts, tasks, calendar entries, documents and preferences that you choose to add. It uses them to provide your personal assistant. This installation is private and requires sign-in.
Gmail
Connecting Gmail allows Sidekick to read email for the features you enable, such as summaries, suggested replies and important-email alerts. Enabling email updates permits background reading and AI analysis of new inbox messages. Relevant email text is sent to your configured AI provider. Sending replies requires separate Gmail permission and your approval in Sidekick. Email updates do not automatically delete, archive or mark messages as read.
Service providers
The app is hosted on DigitalOcean. Messages and permitted context are sent to the AI providers configured by the owner, which may include OpenRouter and its underlying model providers. Phone notifications pass through the browser or device push service. Notification previews can contain personal details; email previews can be disabled. Provider retention and processing are governed by their own policies and account settings.
Your controls
In Settings, you can pause background email updates, adjust notifications and control which records may be used by AI. You can review, correct or delete saved information. Email summaries are retained for 30 days. Other information remains until removed or handled by the configured retention settings; independent copies and backups may remain separately.
You can revoke Gmail access at any time in your Google Account’s third-party connections. Connection credentials are stored encrypted on the server. Revoking access prevents future Gmail access but does not automatically erase summaries already saved in Sidekick.
